Busan's leading city park, Yongdusan Park, is a must-visit spot for travelers visiting Busan, as it has many things to see, such as the Diamond Tower, a renovated Busan Tower, a Statue of Admiral Yi Sunsin, and the Octagonal Pavilion. It is also home to many historical remains, including Stele Condemning Reconciliation and Chunghontap Tower, because it has been well over 100 years since it was first opened as a modern park.

Yongdusan means Yongdu Mountain, but it is actually more like a hill located in the center of Nampo-dong, Busan. Visitors don’t even have to walk up a steep slope thanks to the escalators put in place, which makes it a more accessible attraction for everyone. The Diamond Tower, a symbol of Busan, stands 120 meters high and offers a stunning view.

While a beautiful spot during the day, the park becomes even more special at night. It is open to the public at night under the name of ‘Yongdusan Village’ to offer chills and experiences such as a ‘haunted house,’ performances, flea markets, a hanbok experience, souvenir shops, and other hands-on programs. Yongdusan Village will be open every Thursday-Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. until January 31, 2023. It’s also good to remember that a busking performance is held every Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

As the sun slowly sets, the plaza in front of Diamond Tower is illuminated with bright electric lights. As the attractive night view of Yongdusan Park has been picked up by many through word-of-mouth, the place is usually teeming with people who want to enjoy the spectacular night view. However, people who visit for a leisurely stroll can also find extra fun in enjoying a variety of attractions not seen in Yongdusan Park before.

Centered around the plaza, where you can enjoy the beautiful night view, you can see a stage where busking performances take place, a flea market selling various items, and experience booths. The haunted house, ‘Legend of Dragon Valley’, which has a creepy atmosphere on the outside, also catches people’s eyes. In the middle of the plaza, tables are set up for visitors to take a break to eat or chat.

‘TTuyong Beer,’ which sells craft beer and instant noodles, and ‘Yongdu Myeonggwa,’ a souvenir shop that sells snacks, baked sweet potatoes, Ttuyongi bread, and others, are also noticeable. ‘Ttuyong’ was selected as the mascot character of Yongdusan Village through a public vote. Ttu-yong, the name of this cute dragon character, is actually the reversed sound of ‘yong-du’, but pronounced in a friendlier way. The souvenir shop offers a variety of souvenirs related to Ttuyong.

‘Legend of Dragon Valley,’ which is open from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm every Thursday to Sunday, is the only haunted house currently in operation in Busan. Dragon Valley is the old nickname of Yongdusan Park. Visitors will be given a flashlight, as there is almost no light inside, so you need to move forward slowly, step by step. It is an exciting and thrilling experience not only for children but also for adults. So, don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the city’s one and only haunted house.

You can rent hanbok at Yongdusan Park hanbok experience center and various accessories. Furthermore, in front of the experience center is a garden to add more fun to your experience with traditional Korean costumes and other hands-on programs. So, why don’t you rent one and savor the moment of being in traditional Korean clothing in Yongdusan Village?

Along with the beautiful night view of Yongdusan Park, the new attractions and activities offered by Yongdusan Village will present a different kind of fun to Busan travelers. A Christmas festival will also be held in December, so it would be nice to include Yongdusan Park in your itinerary if you visit the city between Thursday and Sunday.
