In October, Busan becomes the center of the film industry as it holds the Busan International Film Festival.

As Asia’s major international film festival, the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is held at the Busan Cinema Center of the Centum City and in the BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. The Busan Cinema Center, which is the Centum City’s main event hall, is the BIFF’s neat and splendid main cinema building that is accessible to the public. Moreover, the Community BIFF program is held by the citizens and people in the film industry at BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. This program was inspired by the early days of the BIFF when the public and people in film gathered in a friendly atmosphere over a drink after a film’s screening.

The film festival’s flower, the red carpet event, is held at the Busan Cinema Center of the Centum City, where the public can see their beloved directors and actors during the beautiful autumn days. The opening ceremony of the festival is a fantastic spectacle with a giant outdoor screen, colorful lights, audience, and filmdom. Moreover, the programs consist of the open talk with moviemakers, their outdoor stage greetings, and other dynamic, interesting events that always attract a large number of people.

The Community BIFF program takes place at the BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. Under the slogan “Made by Audience,” it is composed of various subprograms, such as REQUEST CINEMA, where the audience is allowed to choose a film to watch together. It also has the REACTION CINEMA, which includes a “Sing Along” to sing a film OST together and a “Midnight Screening” together with food and beverages and so on.

Busan’s October begins with the BIFF, which is a great occasion to discover rare, unusual films from all over the world and meet directors and actors and listen to them talk about the world of cinema.
