The coastal waters of Oryukdo Islets are enough to fascinate visitors.
Oryukdo Islets, which is well-known as one of the most beautiful islands in Busan, refers to a group of rocky islands off Yongho-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. It has been designated as Busan National Geopark in recognition of its geological value: rock formed through volcanic activities 80 million years ago. In addition, it is a marine sanctuary, where protected marine creatures live, and also state-designated cultural heritage.
Oryukdo Islets are composed of Bangpaeseom Island, Solseom Island, Suriseom Island, Songgotseom Island, Gulseom Island, and Deungdaeseom Island, in order of proximity to the land. The name comes from the five (“o”) islands seen at low tide and the six (“ryuk”) islands at high tide. Deungdaeseom Island, the farthest island, has the Oryukdo Lighthouse, and it is the only one accessible to people among those islands. The Lighthouse serves as a gateway to Busanhang Port, which ships entering Busan must pass by.
Visit the Sunrise Park if you want to enjoy the unobstructed view of Oryukdo Islets. As you climb up the hill above the parking lot, you can enjoy the panoramic view with a cool sea breeze. The presence of ecological wetlands, trails, pavilions, and benches makes it a perfect spot for a picnic. Why not go down the hill and head to Oryukdo Skywalk, where you can see Oryukdo Islets right in front of your eyes? Skywalk, built on the edge of cliffs of unique rock formations, always teems with the laughter of visitors who want to enjoy the thrill of looking down at the sea through the glass plates under their feet.
Travelers feel the sea soak into their minds as they face the open sea, and the worries and stresses of daily life go away. The sea of Oryukdo Islets always looks peaceful.
