In 1985, the Busan Mayor’s Official Residence, designed by architect Kim Joong-up, was completed as a significant historical building. It served as the residence for the President of South Korea during official visits and as the official residence for the mayors of Busan. In 2022, a decision was made to remodel the residence in order to preserve its symbolic value while adding new significance, ultimately returning it to the citizens. In September 2024, the space was transformed into a modern multi-purpose cultural complex, breaking away from its original framework. Now renamed DOMOHEON, it opens its doors as a cultural hub that connects the past, present, and future for the community.
