The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea, which is the world’s only cemetery for the UN forces, is where the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Korean War rest. The flags of the coalition partners are flowing over the sculpture, paying respects for the unnamed, sacrificed soldiers and tombstones inscribed with the names of those killed in battle. This naturally makes visitors feel solemn. What is unique in this cemetery is the scene where visitors from all parts of the world are praying.

The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea would remind you of the tragedy during the Korean War. Moreover, you will see the heartrending scene of painful forced mobilization in the Japanese colonial era of Korea in the National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under the Japanese Occupation. In 2015, the museum was opened in efforts to respect and remember the pains of the sacrificed people in the era.

Not far from the museum, the Oryukdo Islets are located. The name “Oryukdo Islets” originates from its mysterious characteristic, where, depending on the day and the tide, it may appear to have five or six islands. As you walk through the transparent floor of the Skywalk hanging over the end of Sunrise Park, you’ll be thrilled and excited as if you’re flying over the emerald sea.

After visiting the Gwangalli Beach, you can go next to the Haeundae Beach. First, you can stop by the Dongbaekseom Island located between Gwangalli and Haeundae and take a walk. Walking down Dongbaek Coastal Trail created in the forest of the island, you can also enjoy the beautiful sea to the fullest.

In the Dalmajigil Road, you will enjoy the scenery of the moon rising over the Haeundae Beach. Created along with the winding forest path leading uphill, this road is famous for its beautiful surroundings and galleries and cafés alongside. In spring, the full-blown cherry blossoms create a tunnel along the road. If you reach the Haewoljeong Pavilion located halfway up the hill, you can take a short rest and feel the blowing sea breeze.

Being the closest to the sea, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is the most-visited temple by tourists in the country. It creates a unique atmosphere where the waves breaking against the rocks are mysteriously in harmony with the calmness of the temple. You can make a wish with the presence of the emerald sea in the background. Moreover, there is a myth that the temple listens to at least one wish made by the visitors.
